Beauty of Flight

Proposal:

Through this art piece I wish to raise awareness to the wildlife/beauty of the wetlands at UWB. By raising awareness, it is my hope that viewers are able to admire the wetlands by looking at it differently. Viewers are able to leave the wetlands more educated than when they walked in. To represent the wildlife, I used a green tree frog jumping from a lily pond to a tree to show how high a normal green tree frog is able to jump, which is 20 times its length. I will be using polyisocyanurate foam because it is perfect for pattern building since there will be multiple of frogs and I can sculpt this foam and make the perfect shapes with the desired tools such as electric scissors, rotary scissors, etc. I will also be painting the frogs, tree, pond, etc. Lastly, Fiberglass will be used to reinforce the sculpture.

Artist Statement:

I want people to consider wetlands in a positive way. I want viewers to be able to use all their senses when they are in the wetlands so they can enjoy the beauty and the wildlife of the wetlands. Through my art I wish to educate the viewers about a specific species that lives in the UWB wetlands.
